DJ Heff is a veteran DJ in every sense of the word veteran. Not only has he been spinning records for over thirty years. He’s also a United States Air Force vet.
DJ Heff was born in Plainfield New Jersey to Barbadian parents. Through his mother’s fondness for music and her house parties DJ Heff also grew a love for music. He plays Soca, Calypso, Reggae, R&B, Hip Hop and much more.
DJ Heff’s earliest recollection of spinning tunes was as a child at the now defunct Black Ovations record store in Plainfield NJ. He was part of his first DJ group with his friends in high school. They were called International Sounds or the Internationals for short.
DJ Heff stopped playing professionally to pursue a career in the Air Force. The music never left him. While he was preparing to go to Iraq DJ Heff was also interning at a commercial radio station in Tampa Florida. After returning from the war he was hired by 95.7 The Beat. He worked there for almost 5 years.
DJ Heff is a very accomplished DJ. He’s played corporate events such as the National Association of Black Journalist pool party. He’s also spun at weddings for TV and broadcast personalities such as newscaster Tammy Fields. DJ Heff has also played after parties for entertainers Chante Moore and Kenny Lattimore. He’s also played at events for the Ruff Ryder’s Tampa chapter. He’s also played at events for the Ruff Ryder’s Tampa chapter and the Union of Black Episcopalians.
